Goodbye to the light,
Hello to the slipped in night,
What a fright was had.
"He could no longer fight it,"
Said the newspaper girl.
"What a swirl was his head,"
Said the postal lady,
"Between the news and lack
Of letters he knew better
Than to stay much longer.
His depression grew stronger
Or so they say,
But I'd wave every day
And he'd shoo me away so
I feel the diagnosis is true."
And so it was settled.
In the night came
And the great light waned
Until there was nothing at all.
